Focusing on Fraud and Government Collections

Throughout the week, I try to compile a stack of news stories, blogs and tech news that I find topical and relevant. Almost routinely, I get thinly-veiled comments about the state of my desk which is often engulfed in a sea of potential blog ideas, especially toward the end of the week.
But not this time; I’m headed out of town on vacation. My desk will be conspicuously clean.
There’s nothing new, sadly, about the Government losing billions of dollars annually to fraud, waste and abuse. What is news is the fact that the Department of Labor recently awarded almost $200 million to combat unemployment overpayments, addressing a portion of the problem.
Progress.
It’s commendable the Department of Labor wants to stop the bleeding and tackle the issue with a more watchful, vigilant eye.
And some pretty nifty technology.
The good news is the Account Receivables Management (ARM) industry is making tremendous strides, detecting this lapse, using latest technologies and business analytics.
More to come after I’m back in the office.
